Scott Weis

A great trainer—along with superior stock—is one of the keys to the Travelers' Farm success story.

Our horses are trained by Scott Weis, one of the top cutting horse trainers in the nation. Weis, past president of the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association, lives in nearby Ojai and makes regular trips up the Central Coast to our farm in Santa Ynez.

A 1981 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo graduate with a degree in agricultural business, has been training cutting horses since 1983. His mounts have won more than $2 million.

Weis began training for the public in 1987, taking over the family ranch after his father passed away. In the late 80’s, he won the PCCHA Derby aboard Ninos Puddin Head, a horse that placed second 10 of the 12 times Weis showed him.

His best finish in the NCHA Futurity was his fourth place on Folks Montaluc.
